To qualify for a home improvement contractor's license in Rockland County, you can either show proof that you Graduated from a Technical School or Proof of Experience. The number of years of education or experience varies between 1 year and as much as 7 years, depending on the classification of license you are applying for. For example, you only need 1 year to qualify for Gutter Installations, and 7 years to qualify as a General Contractor. You are also required to obtain the EPA RRP course if you perform work on homes built prior to 1978.


Yes. Rockland County requires applicants to take an exam for the home improvement contractor's license. We'll provide you with a Study Guide. No course necessary.


No. Rockland County does not require a bond for the home improvement contractor's license., unless it becomes a condition of your approval. 


 In most cases, having criminal history does not disqualify you. If you've been convicted of a crime or offense and are concerned about your past don't sweat it. Just give us a call and we'll consult with you.


No, New York State does not have a license that covers the entire state. Each county has it's own license with their own set of rules and regulations. In some counties, there are certain towns or cities that have a separate license altogether.


On average most classifications of the home improvement contractor's license application take between 4-6 weeks for approval.

 Working without a license is a Class A misdemeanor punishable by a fine of up to $1,000 and/or 1 year in prison, and the seizure and impound of your vehicle (s) tools, and equipment.
